Newscast has finally made a reappearance in time for the next series of Antican Elections. To mark the occasion, its production staff has decided to provide a special series looking at the highlights of the previous Term of Speakership, that of Aryeztur Mejorkhor and Oric the Korhalli, called

Part 1 has just been released, and it covers the basics of where the Antican Commonwealth was going into the Election and the Election itself, including its unusual conclusion.

It would have originally included an interview with Braden Indianensis, but since Braden's microphone fails at life, it could not be included at this time. Newscast puts all blame on Braden Indianensis for this.

Foghorn Liberates News with New Feed!

NAFTICON -- Over the past week, relations between Zulu 5 Oscar, Inc. founder, Foghorn Leghorn, and MNN administrators have deteriorated from passive-aggressive taunts to all out verbal warfare. After several days of accusation throwing across multiple micronational forums, the only thing that both sides can seem to agree on is that neither one is invited to the other's birthday party.

However, today it was revealed that His Heinousness, Foghorn, is striking out on his own, unveiling a new micronational news aggregator, to contest the media hegemony of the MNN. He has christened it the "Micronational News Service" (MNS), but we here at the Liberator feel that he can do a better job of creating acronyms than that. It currently distributes the MNN-banned Micronational Wulaptonachgot, the not-yet-banned Antican Liberator, and less-than-loved KZFO Radio.

MNN scandal has micronations "taking sides"

The scandal that has everyone with a stake in micronationalism talking has started producing a galvanizing effect in Micras, with whole nations taking sides on the argument.

The rift started in Shireroth, Foghorn's favorite place of residence outside of Antica, where the population by and large seems to have taken Foghorn's side. Indications are that this decision was made not only because Foghorn is a local noble, but also because of the clear and concise manner in which the facts were presented to the population. However, Scott Alexander, retired micronationalist, urges the population to be cautious about going forward with any actions. The population in Shireroth seems on the verge of a complete boycott of the MNN, stemmed only by Scott's arguments, which seem to be dwindling as Foghorn presents more of his side of the story.

Antica as well has (as everyone expected) sided with Foghorn, again kept from any real action on the rising anti-MNN sentiments by Scott Alexander's counsel. How long this will keep the lid of Pandora's Box closed is unknown at this time. But clear and determined calls from within the government of Antica are already demanding that an impartial version of the MNN be established, and the current mncentre.net forum administration method be revised such that the actions of Liam Sinclair cannot happen in the future without the approval of multiple parties.

The only nation that seems to have decidedly galvanized in a manner that isn't with Foghorn is Babkha, which has taken a more neutral approach. Hesam Jahandar has made the official Babkhan position clear, stating that "...Babkha is a firm supporter of INS and Micronations.net." Their position was later clarified to mean that, according to what was posted in their forums, they would not actively engage in either side of the debate.

Other prominent micronationalists, such as Nathan Shepard of Natopia and Jacobus Loki mainly of Shireroth, have also loaned their support to Foghorn's cause.

Liam Sinclair was unable to be reached for comment due to the fact that the editorial staff has been banned from his website.

An open letter to Liam Sinclair of the MNN

Liam,

I don't believe that our personal differences and biases should negatively impact this hobby as much as they already have, so I am writing you this open letter, offering you the olive branch of peace, and hoping that you will undo the detrimental changes you have enacted.

Our argument started with KZFO, so I shall try to rationally and legally explain the position we are in. I have vetted this argument with the local legal counsel, and he has ensured its validity.

The KZFO podcast has always striven to aggregate all of the micronational radio shows in one feed. That was its stated purpose all those years ago. Yes, it initially started as my Radio Nafticon, but it has morphed and evolved, like all good news sources must. As an aggregator, it falls within the same legal realm as Google News and your own MNN feed, at least within the United States. In order to be compliant with US law, we are required to attribute all sources other than our own, which we do if you'll check the feed, and respond to "takedown notices", which we have done in the past. Therefore, KZFO (the feed) is 100% compliant with US copyright laws.

Further, international copyright law dictates that, in the case of the internet, one only needs to comply with the laws set forth in the nation where the servers for the content reside. For example, allofmp3.com was able to distribute copyrighted music for drastically reduced fees without paying the RIAA because they operated out of Russia, and the laws in that country (at the time) enabled such actions. Because of this legal precedent, so long as we are compliant with US laws, we are compliant with all other nation's laws as well, Australia inclusive.

As for KZFO the content, we use "podsafe music", music that the artist has specifically granted rights over for use in online media, such as ours, stipulating that certain attribution is given, which we do for every show. The other shows on the MNN, such as the two shows in question for this conflict, blatantly violate international copyright law, and yet no repercussions are felt by them. I feel that this example perfectly outlines the reason why I was so perturbed by your decision to remove KZFO from your feed, the fact that this action seems to indicate an anti-Foghorn bias in an organization that claims to be an open forum and a place for all of the micronational news to be seen.

You have compounded this opinion by your recent removal of the Micronational Wulaptonachgat, recognized for years as the best source for Shirerithian, Antican, and other news, as well as an outlet for Z5O and my personal opinions as well. You have, in essence, cut off the rest of the micronational world from Antica, leaving them to search for Antican and Shirerithian news on their own, ignoring the purpose behind the MNN news feed.

Finally, you have given me no method of redress for these grievances in the mncentre.net forums, a place that is supposed to be the meeting ground for all of micronationalism to get together and discuss their issues and collaborate. I cannot even see the reasoning behind your recent ban and removal of TMW because the ban does not allow me to view the forums as a guest.

For my part, I apologize for my conduct in the MNN forums recently. I recognize that my posts may have been misread as ad hominem attacks on you specifically, and apologize for any pain and suffering you have endured. However, I do not believe that my conduct necessitates the obviously belligerent steps you have taken since then.

For the good of all of Micras, I ask that you undo what you have done. Reinstate the Micronational Wulaptonachgat in the MNN feed, along with KZFO, as it does not, as you claimed it did, violate any copyright laws, unlike many other news shows on the same feed. Additionally, I ask that you remove the ban on my account on mncentre.net's forum and make good on the forum's promise to be a meeting center for all to discuss topics of interest for the good of the community, and not simply "those people that Liam likes".

I await your response to my request, and hope that we can work together peaceably in the future.

Liberator Reporters Uncover Secret CSR Prison

NAFTICON - Late last night, while investigating the CSR's Strategic Censorship Program, Liberator reporters were shocked to stumble across previously secret prisons, hidden deep within the cyber forests of the Callisto Strategic Republic. Although they were quickly discovered by guards who told them "Move along, move along, these aren't the droids you're looking for," Liberator reporters managed to take a few photographs of the gruesome scene they found inside.

As this exceedingly graphic photograph shows, the CSR appears to be maintaining a secret facility for the torture of Arabs. While no CSR official could be reached for comment, it is assumed that all reports of the prison and allegations of torture will be kept out of the Callistian media, as per the doctrine of Strategic Censorship.

ARYEZ WINS ANTICAN ELECTION IN LANDSLIDE!*

NAFTICON – Every three months, the Antican people come from all over the nation to the grand city of Nafticon for the quadrennial (theoretically) Speaker and Judicial Elections. While the Anticans are for the most part considered to be a reasonable people, during the 7-10 day election cycle, even the calmest of citizens are consumed by overbearing feelings of hate, fear, suspicion, and paranoia. Such an atmosphere has often turned what should be the simple affair of an election into a city wide brawl over voter eligibility, candidate legitimacy, and the abuse of power by administrators. The October election has been no different – and it has produced a rather surprising result.

After three prior unsuccessful bids for the seat of Speaker, and an unsuccessful campaign during the last Chancelletorial elections in the Dinarchy of Antica, Foghorn, the Candidate Without A Platform, has finally hit electoral pay dirt. Unlike most of his successful predecessors and even his own prior campaigns, after announcing his candidacy for this election period, Foghorn refused to campaign, participate in debates, make speeches, or announce a platform, claiming that he was “here to flesh out the ballot, and lose.” While his complete hopelessness and resignation to failure seems to have struck a chord with some Anticans, it is not yet clear what effect his platformless victory will have upon the future of Antican Democracy.

Foghorn is expected to take office later this week, once he recovers from the massive shock.

Terrorist Runs for Office in Antica

Olorix, previously known as one of the Great Men of Antica, often referred to as The Man, has shown his true colors in this photograph, taken by one of our good readers.

This photograph shows him at a TERRORIST CONVENTION in New Zealand, where he is well known as leader of the infamous Sheep Raiders terrorist clan. New Zealand, being the dirty communist country that it is, does not prosecute terrorism like the great nation of the Republic of Antica.

However... he is a CITIZEN OF ANTICA. This means he is fully punishable under the great and noble legal system, led by Chief Editor Oric himself.

Surely this man is plotting the destruction of out great nation, for New Zealand and the Sheep Raiders hate all that is free. He must be stopped, by the great republic, for the Republic fights against all that is SOCIALIST.

New Articles of the Republic Surrounded By Controversy (aka The Articles Article)
In the Assembly Hall of the Republic of Antica, Speaker Olorix has called for a big change in the way Antica is run. He is calling for new Articles, based upon changes in the government suggested by Chief Judge Maggern.

The new Articles are more specific than the old ones, and call for such measures as a three branch government, three Chiefs of Office, limiting the term of the Speaker to one month, with three terms maximum, three Judical Counsels, and a national newspaper.

The argument was brought in by Chief Relations Officer Chrimigules, that these articles go in the direction of an actual constitution, which was not originally intended, and that they include things already covered by existing Fundamental Laws, and suggested a simpler version. Foghorn agreed by moving to table the bill indefinitely. Careless then came in, saying that the Articles of the Republic are broken, and that the Speaker has no power to lead the country. He also said that our current system is idealist instead of practical.

The country is now divided between those who still have a bad taste in their mouth from the Dinarchy, such as Foghorn and Chrimigules, and those who wish for a stronger Speaker, such as Careless, Maggern, Steven, and Olorix.

Plans are up to give the Speaker power to veto laws that pass through the Assembly.

When asked about the new articles, Foghorn said that they were "frivolous", and that "the old articles work fine, and can be updated without this huge overhaul." Careless said "I think it's key to separate the executive and give him a degree of control over the agenda, full control of foreign affairs (except of course ratification), to expand the role of the CAO into that of making the Speaker's policy a reality in the assembly, and to solidify the strength of our diplomatic core." After being asked, Steven took an impressive swig of cheap vodka, and said "*hic* FOR ZE MUZZERLAND!!".

Elections and war in full swing

The Anticans elections are in full swing. Antican men and women throughout the country are lining up at their local voting boxes to cast their votes for who shall be the next speaker of the republic. This election is probably the most momentous one to date. This election saw the birth of defined political factionalism and two different paths of government are being proposed as well as policy changes. Olorix was a favorite and his intensions to run in the election have been well known for quite some time. No one seemed to be opposing him until Foghorn entered the race. It was joked in some circles, that Steven would nominate a piece of meatloaf just to have some opposition for Olorix. The race is still quite up in the air. On one side, Foghorn is proposing a pro-Shireroth, pro-assembly policy. On the other, Olorix is proposing a middle stance with Shireroth as well as a middle stance between executive power and assembly power. Although some feared that Foghorn was a Shirithian puppet and others that Olorix was a Caesar or a man on White Horse, the recent debates have replaced these fears with plain and simple confusion.

In other news, the Antican republic has gone to war with the Babkhans over Mondesia and is pushing them back on all fronts. A victory for the revolution seems to be secured. Rebels throughout the country have risen up in favor of the revolution and victory is soon coming.

Additionally, the counter-coup in Attera has led to one of the original revolutionaries there to flee to Antica. Johanns has come to Antica seeking asylum from the vicious Diga. The Diga has requested that we extradite Johanns for trial. The Antican speaker has responded as such in a press conference concerning the matter: "Over my dead body." The Atterans revolted around the same time as us, making them kindred spirits in the glorious revolution against the old micronational ways.

Speaker Declares New Election Period

NAFTICON-Moments ago, Steven, current Speaker of the Republic of Antica, declared a new election period. It will begin on December 23, and, going against previous traditions, Cabinet appointments will be released on January 1, with the actual vote beginning on January 5.

After less than two months as Speaker, Steven seems to have had enough of what he has described as "the job from hell". He has endured heavy criticism since his first day on the job for topics ranging from unfair election procedures to his more recent blunderings during the Shirerithian Land talks. However, despite all of this, the Republic has prospered during Steven's eight weeks in office, gaining five new citizens and entering into negotiations for a large sum former Dinarchial land.

As of yet, no citizens have announced their candidacy.

Steven Eats Hamster to Survive

SIBERIA- Steven, Speaker of the Republic of Antica, (previously admitted to having smoked pot and gotten drunk in New York City), has been found half-naked and freezing in Siberia by Russian officials. (Ha! Oxymoron!) Fortunately, Steven was able to communicate with them in his native Russian language. Otherwise, they might have shot him on sight. (they were carrying Soviet KA-47s, and were hunting for capitalist saboteurs)

In an interview from the Russian newspaper Pravda (previously a Soviet propaganda paper), Steven admitted to eating his pet hamster, Tovarishch Stalin to survive in the harsh cold environment of Siberia.
"Tovarishch Stalin was my best friend," said Steven through tears, "but I had to do what I had to do to survive... I will miss Tovarishch Stalin dearly. He tasted like ham." (Get it? Hamster?)

Steven was released to Antica later by Russian officials, but only if he pledged allegiance to The Motherland, and promised to change Antica into a Communist country.

Shirerithian Land Proposal Declared "Like, Totally Ugly!"

NAFTICON-In the ongoing conflict over the proposed land addition to the Republic of Antica, yet another voice has joined the already boisterous fray. In an interview late last night, an unnamed citizen told Liberator reporters that the land proposal was “Like, totally ugly!” and “So un-aesthetically pleasing!” Before any argument could be made to the contrary, the citizen went on to say “ Imperial purple next to powder blue and macaroni-and-cheese yellow?! It looks like what my dog puked up when he was chewing on Steven’s Special Speaker bathrobe yesterday! ”. No word yet on whether these sentiments will have any widespread affect upon the land deal.

Treaty Talks and Restructuring of Government

NAFTICON-The speaker rose from his bed around 6 AM. The breeze from the bay created a quiet and ideal environ. Still half asleep, in his special-speaker bathrobe, he wandered over to get a cup of Joe and began to read the days memos. He was not even through the first one when there was a knock on the door. The speaker got to his feet and opened the door to a panting messenger who gave him a note. He stood there for a second as Steven scanned the note, “GET ME CARELESS AND OLORIX!!!” screamed the speaker. He quickly put himself in his standard military regalia, the navy blue vest and got in his Peugeot (official car of the revolution). He arrived at the bunker, a building which resembles a large metal box and quickly made his way to the conference room where he found Careless waiting for him. Olorix arrived five minutes later.
“Well, men” began Steven. “Delphi has ceded himself and the Dinarchy to Shireroth. This is a victory of sorts, but we must make our way to the mainland to take what is rightfully ours now.”
The three conferenced for many hours on the issue utilizing the handy dandy conference machine installed by Foghorn earlier.
Meanwhile, on the shore, a soldier spotted something off in the distance. Rising from the water was what seemed to be a gigantic metallic submarine in the shape of a squid. On the top of the squid was a giant Jewish star in the center of which was a giant “S”. Painted under all of this was a Shirithian flag. The soldier called one of his superiors to the tower, pointing to the rising body in the water. The higher ranking official gasped, “Scott! Go the bunker and tell Speaker, Olorix, and Careless.”
Scott, Delphi, Steven, and Olorix then entered peaceful land negotiations. However, when it was discovered that prior to the talks, Steven and Careless had entertained the idea of allying themselves with Babkhans and Atterans, the talks ended abruptly. However, the Kaiser after some lengthy explaining on the part of Steven, eventually resolved to give some land to Antica. Antica, as we are no longer the republic, but the true one and only Antica, is forever grateful for this and by this act of forgiveness, good Shirithian-Antican relations are forever secured.
In other news, Maggern has proposed changing the fundamental laws to centralize the nation. It is felt that the nation needs to strike a better balance between democracy and a centralized and organized state.

New Blood in Antica

NORWAY- Antica welcomes its newest member, Maggern to its ranks. Hailing from Norway, he speaks very good English, and has plenty of fresh ideas for our nation, which are already under controversy in the Assembly Hall.

His plans for the nation include a stronger central leader (the President), to free the nation of its slow, overly democratic bickering between Steven, Chris, and Foghorn. This idea is not very popular with some citizens, who are still fearing a regime like Delphi's previous regime over the now non-existant Dinarchy of Antica, which is now part of the Imperial Republic of Shireroth.

When asked about the current state of affairs in Antica, Maggern said, "Antica is in a state of change..now that our old nemesis has been removed from the map, we need to calm down and decide on how we wish to define Antica in the future. We are at a crossroads"

This new blood is exactly what we need in Antica, to prevent it from being just another old boys club.

Also, Maggern is a very skilled artist, as evidenced by this masterpiece pictured here, titled "KITTY".

Speaker Caught in the Act!

NEW YORK CITY- Our Speaker Steven, previously thought an honorable man, and a good Speaker, has been caught in the act of DRINKING HEAVILY and SMOKING POT, and the Antican Liberator is here with all the dirty details.
Steven, unwittingly revealed all in an exclusive interview with Chief Editor Ben Vickers of Antica himself:
Steven: I was really fucked up last night.
Oric, in a concerned tone, because of his iron determinedness to make Antica and the micronational world a better place: How so?
Steven, in a non-caring for the greater good for Antica tone: I went out onto a golf course in the middle of the snow and smoked pot and got drunk off my ass.
Steven: I drank a lot.

Steven, obviously being irresponsible, started babbling about Arabic when the conversation got quiet.
Above is a lovely photo of Steven's father. He was quoted as saying to Steven, "Eто пoхмельe, пoделoм тебе!", which is Russian for "I'm so proud of him.. he's becoming a true Russian." Obviously, something went wrong in Steven's childhood.

Surely, we can elect more responsible leaders than this?
